Information Overload
Youtube is great. Anyone can have a channel and teach you how to paint an eye, or hair or anything for that matter... and that's the problem. Who do you follow? Who can take you all the way from start to finish? Who can give you the complete picture to paint whatever you want - any subject, without any limitations?
If this person exists and is giving away their artistic recipe for success I still haven't been able to find them, and I'm guessing that you haven't either because you are still searching for answers.
No Clear Process
When you approach each piece of art differently, you have no process and this is a problem because when you change the approach each time, you are not giving yourself the chance to develop mastery over the complete process.
Imagine if your favorite restaurant decided to change the recipe every time they made your favorite dish... you would get unpredictable and inconsistent results, and you would stop going to that restaurant.
